the medina at Fez

A medina is composed of several Moroccan houses

situated in the market (souk) or in the very narrow small streets of Fez.

The medina of Fez was founded in the 11th century and it shelters the oldest university of the world. There are lots of markets (souk) and stands selling craftwork in the medina. They exist in many other Moroccan cities and are called medinas followed by the name of the city.
