Himeji-jo
Himeji-jo is an old castle and a cultural treasure ofJapan. It is one of two Japanese castles made out of wood. The other is hakuro-jo . It was built in 1346, by Sadanori Akamatsu and in 1580, Toyotomi Hideyoshi lived there. Yoshitaka Kuroda added a tower of three floors. In 1601 Ikeda terumasa lived there and changed the castle again. In the 1870s the government bought the castle in an auction for “23 yens”. The castle was finally abandoned.
